Albumin polymorphism (albumin Naskapi) in Eskimos and Navajos.

Description:

Studies on albumin variants of North American Eskimos and Navajos are described. Albumin phenotypes were determined by starch gel electrophoresis using Ashton and Braden’s discontinuous lithium hydroxide buffer. Differential binding of certain substances to the albumin variants has been shown; this may be of importance in the study of the pharmacogenetics of Indian populations because many important drugs are known to bind to albumin.
