Diabetes is a growing health problem among the Indian and non-Indian population in New York State. Today, at least one third of all adults on the Seneca Nation of Indians Cattaraugus and Allegany Reservations in New York are afflicted by the disease. The author points out the relationship between changing dietary patterns and the increased level of diabetes on the two reservations.
