Characteristics, employment status, and scope of duties of community health representatives: a survey of graduates.

Description: 

Alberta Vocational College in Lac La Biche started the Community Health Representative (CHR) program in 1973 to train public health para-professionals to act as community health educators in aboriginal communities. A follow-up study of graduates of the program was undertaken in 1993 to determine the extent to which the program meets its stated objectives. Study results show that employment status, location of employment and scope of duties of responding CHR graduates are consistent with the original purpose of the program.
