Ethnic distribution of cervical carcinoma in a cytologic screening program.

Description:

310 patients with cervical carcinoma were compared with 564 controls for differences in ethnic distribution. Among the cancer patients, the proportion who were Indians was greater and the proportion who were Negroes was smaller than among corresponding controls. As in other studies of racial influence, factors such as socioeconomic status, parity, early pregnancy, and age must be considered in accounting for these differences.
