Factor V Leiden (F5 Q506) and vascular disease in Canadian Oji-Cree.

Description: 

Oji-Cree Indians have a low prevalence of cardiovascular disease. The authors of this study attempted to characterize the possible molecular basis of this apparent genetic resistance. They found a remarkably low F5 Q506 allele frequency among the Oji-Cree, which could explain the low prevalence of cardiovascular disease and may also be associated with the high prevalence of diabetes.
