Height, weight, and growth of Alaskan Eskimos.
Description:
The height and weight of Eskimos at birth is indistinguishable from that of North American whites. A persistently slower rate of growth which is evident soon after birth accounts for the short stature of adult Eskimos. The average height of Eskimo children after 6 months of age approximates the fifth percentile of white children. The ratio of weight to height is consistently higher in Eskimo children than in whites.
