Implications of environmental stress. Strategies of developmental change in the North.
Description:
In viewing the indigenous peoples of the North, it becomes evident that changes now taking place in their way of life vary considerably in rate and breadth of human activity. This paper briefly discusses some of these changes with particular attention to processes and types of environmental stress and stress management, relating them to research we are undertaking among the Cree Indians of northern Quebec, and concluding with some comments on the strategy of northern development planning.
