Description: 

During the Pan American Exposition, the most serious ailments among the Indians in attendance were colds, headaches, and indigestion. The author attended a healing ceremony that removed the pain from a broken leg; he describes it. Several men consorted with prostitutes at the Exposition and acquired the resultant gonorrhea that was treated with a tea made of leaves or mountain rush. Despite a medicine man's best efforts, a 3 year old girl died of epileptic seizures.
