The mental health of Alaskan natives.
Description:
Incidence of treated mental disorders in 1968 were compared among five Alaskan native groups. Alcoholism represented the major mental health problem in all groups. Unique patterns emerged for certain other diagnostic categories. Paranoid personality disorders were seen most frequently in Southwestern Indian groups. Depression was characteristic of the larger villages which are predominantly Eskimo.
