Obstetrics Among Aborigines

Description:

Women give birth in a semi-sitting position, usually from 1-12 hours after labor begins. The women are hearty, bear pain well, and maintain self-control. Puerperal septicemia doesn't usually occur among Indian women; they appear remarkably resistant to it. Two descriptions of the author's experiences in delivering native babies are included.
