On Prehistoric Trephining and Cranial Amulets

Much of this article contains information about trephined skulls unearthed in Europe. Ten to 15 skulls found in mounds near Lake Huron and River Rouge, Michigan showed a circular perforation at the vertex. Another skull from an Indian mound in Sterling, Illinois had a circular opening about the size of a dime that was made during life; the edges had begun to cicatrize. Very poor copy.
