A roundtable conference on infant mortality final report.

Description:

On November 18-19, 1991, a group of experts in the area of Indian health gathered in Rockville, MD for a Roundtable discussion on "Indian Infant Mortality." The participants represented a broad spectrum of experience and perspectives. The findings of this roundtable supported the fact that there is a need to identify and intervene (more effectively) with families "at risk" for infant mortality. The overall consensus was that "The overriding recommendation is for cultural and spiritual considerations..." The roundtable then divided their recommendations into two parallel tracks, one dealing with service delivery and the other dealing with epidemiology and research. Finally, the roundtable participants identified basic funding and resource recommendations.
