STOP Diabetes! An educational model for Native American adolescents in the prevention of diabetes.

This article describes a pilot project designed to promote culturally sensitive diabetes prevention education. The project, directed toward adolescents on the Winnebago Indian Reservation, had three objectives: to use aspects of traditional culture to develop an educational program, to provide an opportunity for participants to take a leadership role, and to design a health education program directed toward the specific needs of Winnebago adolescents.
