An Unusual Navajo Medicine Ceremony

This article appeared in the Hampton Boarding School's (Virginia) "magazine devoted to the interests of undeveloped races." Health is the result of friendship or fellowship with the gods and sickness is the natural aftermath of some act or thought which has displeased one of the dwellers above. A healing ceremony by Navajo medicine man Niggalita was performed for Tom Ganado, a Navajo patient with pneumonia. Tom had received care from white doctors, but as soon as the Navajo ceremony was over, Tom's total recovery was assured.
