The Beothuk Indians

Description:

Gatschet discusses a Beothuk burial place and the mummified body of a boy about ten years old. The Beothuks are a Canadian branch of the Algonquin family and very few artifacts or bones have been discovered. A sample of the English-Beothuk vocabulary is included, as is a short bibliography of newly discovered information. Read before the Am Philosophical Soc January 3, 1890.
