In a letter to the editor of the Journal of the American Medical Association, the author states that the "recent situation among the Navajos is deplorable and is evidence of most regrettable apathy" among those with responsibility for the medical needs of the Indians. Trachoma is much neglected and incipient phthisis is everywhere. Hardly a trace of sanitation exists. Hoffman offers 5 suggestions for improvement.
