An Aleutian Burial

Description:

Discovered by the Stoll-McCracken Arctic Expedition of 1928 of the American Museum of Natural History, one Aleutian grave may be characterized as a driftwood sarcophagus containing four mummies buried on the flat top of a precipitous islet near Unalaska Island. All graves are difficult to find; some are on islands. Several mummies are described. Footnotes. Sketches. Photos.
