Diseases Among The Indians

Description: 

Three most important diseases among the San Carlos Apache Apache and Navajo in the southwest are: tuberculosis, trachoma, syphilis. On the San Carlos Apache Reservation, in 1931 there were 13 deaths attributed to tuberculosis; during 1932 there were 17. Diarrhea and pneumonia are the chief causes of death among infants. Read at the regular meeting of the Gila County (Arizona) Medical Society on March 15, 1933.
