Poliomyelitis In The Arctic

Description: 

A widespread epidemic of acute poliomyelitis among Eskimos in the Eastern Arctic of Canada occurred in the depth of an unusually severe winter and resulted in killing over 5% of the population and paralyzing 14%. All the features suggest that in a non-immune community poliomyelitis behaves like any acute infectious fever. Map. Tables. Photos. Bibliography.
