Utilizing mass survey records and hospital and lab records, authors believes that the prevalence of syphilis for the Navajo population is probably less than 5%. When compared with other major public health problems on the Navajo Reservation, such as infant diarrhea, enteritis, tuberculosis, and maternal and infant mortality, author believes that syphilis os only a secondary health problem.
