Wichita Death Customs

Description:

Wichita burials of the 19th century and perhaps the latter half of the 18th, would be expected to occur in cemetery areas and to exhibit rectangular or long oval burial pits, east-west orientation, and an extended position of body with the head placed in an easterly direction. Artifacts accompanying burials should vary widely. Footnotes. Presented at the 1951 meeting of the Texas Archaeological and Paleontological Society at San Angelo, TX.
