The observed data over a period of 13-15 years support the concept that there is a close but not absolute relationship between resistance to reinfection and hypersensitivity. Hypersensitivity among the vaccinated, of whom 12 died from tuberculosis, ranged from 93.3% one year following vaccination to 90.2% eleven years later. Among the controls, 65 of whom died from TB, hypersensitivity increased from an incidence of 12.7% one year after the initiation of the study to 41.7% after 11 years. Footnotes. Tables.
