Medical and surgical lore was highly developed among Eskimos and Alaska natives prior to contact with Russians. The loss of this ancient culture is unfortunate and there is a definite need for education directed at encouraging the use of native foods. Because of the insufficient medical care at present to Alaskans, they could do far worse than return to some of the treatment methods of their ancestors. Map. Footnotes. Bibliography.
