Facts About Indian Health

Description:

Far reaching improvements have been made in the Indian health program since 1955. Many more health workers - including physicians, dentists, sanitary engineers, pharmacists, public health nurses, social workers, medical record librarians, and health educators - have been added to the staff. Contract health services have been increased. Treatment facilities and services have been improved, and new clinics and staff housing have been built. The gains of the past 2-3 years may be small in relation to the ultimate objective of this program, but they are clear indications that the goals in Indian health in time will be achieved.
