The Tabor Hill Ossuaries

Description:

Two ossuaries containing the remains of 213 individuals show no marked divergence from the Iroquois pattern as regards either the skeletal elements or the method of burial. The sex distribution of crania was 27 males to 50 females, or 75 males to 138 females of the recovered sample. This differential in the sex ratio may have been caused by the failure of hunting or war parties to retrieve all of the bodies of those who met their deaths some distance from home. Map. Schematic.
