Trichinosis In Northwest Territories

Description:

Trichinosis is widely distributed throughout Southern Canada. The highest incidence appears to be in the central arctic region and is lowest among the fish and caribou eaters. The hydatid incidence, on the other hand, is highest in those tribes in areas where caribou exist. The problem is enormously complicated by the scarcity of fuel and by the dietetic and hunting habits of the Eskimos. Education is accordingly the prime factor but there is also the possibility of a preventive vaccine. Footnotes. Tables. Bibliography.
