Artificial Cranial Deformation Among The Caddo Indians

Description:

Cranial deformation is primarily of the fronto-occipital type and of varying degrees. Roughly 60% of all deformed Caddoan crania exhibit this form. Cranial deformation in the Caddoan area was very likely a custom which was left up to the individua, for in many of the historic and prehistoric burial groups some crania are found which show no deformation at all.
