During the 1940s and 1950s anthropologists and psychologists as well as other specialities had been studying the Navajo and other American Indians of the southwest. This paper addresses only one topic: the basic aspects of infancy and childhood among the Ramah Navajo as derived from the work of Kluckhohn and a discussion of his theoretical conclusions. Among the subjects that are briefly described: birth, cradling, nursing, weaning, toilet training, and the child's relationships with family members. Bibliography.
