Possible Shoshonean Skeletal Material From The Turk Burial Site, 48Wa301

Description:

An analysis is made of five secondary or disturbed human burials (three males, one female and one infant) from the Turk Burial Site, 48WA301, Washakie County, Wyoming. The burials are discussed in terms of suggested skeletal completeness since in only one case (Burial D) does the post-cranial material articulate with the cranial material. Next follows the morphological description and measurements of the skeletal remains. The craniometric data are compared with the Cheyenne, Shoshonean (Utes and Paiutes), Crow, and Lakotid, and the PK burial material from Wyoming. The various differences and similarities are stressed. Morphologically, the Turk Burial material seems to correspond more closely with the Shoshonean groups. Bibliography.
