Seasonal Cycle Of Cs 137 In Some Alaskan Natives And Animals

Description:

Cesium-137 concentrations were measured in lichens, caribou and Eskimos at Anaktuvuk Pass, Alaska during the summer of 1962-63 and at approximately 2 month intervals during the period January 1964 through April 1965. Maximum body burdens in Eskimos occurred during summer months and then decreased steadily until the following spring. Eskimo Cesium-137 body burdens in the summer of 1963 were about 50% greater than during 1962 and during 1964 were about twice those of 1963. Cesium-137 concentrations in wolverines, wolves and foxes were highest during winter months and were greater than in caribou flesh. Tables. Line graphs. Bibliography.
