These groups prefer their old healing remedies to the "white man's medicine." Plants used for healing are listed with their purposes. Although burial is now in the ground, in former times a dead body was placed in a canoe, the canoe then placed in the forks of two trees and abandoned. A modern [1877] burial is described. Scaffold burial is employed in cemeteries; a description is given. Excerpts only.
