New Mexico PRAMS Surveillance Report: 1999 Births

Description:

Since 1997, New Mexico has participated in the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) as an ongoing project of the New Mexico Department of Health with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. PRAMS is a multi-year, population-based surveillance system designed to identify and monitor selected maternal behaviors and experiences occurring before, during and after pregnancy. PRAMS uses a mailed survey with 40 topics covered in 69 questions. This report summarized 30 questions on topics including preconception, family planning, maternal knowledge, behaviors, and experiences, maternal weight and diabetes, infant care and health, and services and programs. Each section includes a detailed data table, highlights important findings, and describes national and local experiences. A copy of the complete survey is part of the appendices.
